Julio Cacho, Ph.D. (Founding Partner)
Julio is founder and Chief Investment Officer of Quantor Capital. Julio has more than 15 years of combined professional and academic experience in financial statistical research, optimal investment selection, and investment risk management. Previously, Julio was a director of risk and performance at Ziff Brothers Investments, a private multi billion dollar family office in New York City. At Ziff, Julio developed investment and hedging strategies as a quantitative researcher, and implemented risk management strategies. Julio holds a masters in finance and doctor of philosophy (P.h.D.) in finance & economics from Princeton University. He received a B.SC. in Actuarial Science and M.A. in economics with the highest honors from ITAM University in Mexico City. Julio is currently a faculty member at Rice University and has taught at Princeton University, ITAM, and Swiss Finance Institute. Julio has also been seminar speaker at top universities and financial institutions. Julio won the 2005 Citi-Banamex research in economics prize and has published articles about optimal portfolio selection in peer-reviewed academic journals.
Juan Carlos Herrera (Founding Partner)
Juan Carlos is founder, head portfolio manager, and co-founder of Quantor Capital. After graduating from the University of Texas in Austin, Juan Carlos began his financial career in Madrid, Spain working for a boutique consulting firm. In 2006, Juan Carlos came back to the United States and joined Citigroup where he held positions in wealth management and private banking for affluent families. In 2008, Juan Carlos left Citi to start a quantitative hedge fund, QL Capital Management. While at QL Capital Management, Juan Carlos helped design, develop, and trade unique short term trading strategies that invested in over 80 markets. In 2012 QL Capital Management was acquired by St. Christopher Holdings, a family office headed by Mr. Roberto Contreras (Mr. Contreras is currently a founding partner of Quantor Capital, LLC). After the partnership, Juan Carlos was appointed to restructure the family's liquid assets leading to the creation of Quantor Capital in September of 2014. Juan Carlos has a bachelors of arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin and currently holds a Series 65 and 3 FINRA licenses.
Charles is a founding partner and board member of Quantor Capital. He is also the Founder of the women’s jewelry and accessory retail brand, Charming Charlie. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Chanaratsopon grew up immersed in the accessory business, in 2004 at the age of 26 launched the innovative concept known for merchandising the store layout by color. The company currently operates 275 stores across the country. In 2010, he was honored with Ernest & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” award in the Retail category, and in 2013, was featured on Forbes Magazine’s “Ones to Watch” list, on top of numerous other accolades the Charming Charlie brand and business has received for outstanding achievement over the years. Charlie holds a Bachelors of Arts in Business Administration and a Minor in Economics from Loyola Marymount University and an MBA from Columbia Business School. He is also an active member of YPO (Young Presidents Organization).
Roberto is a founding partner and board member of Quantor Capital. Roberto is currently the Chief Executive Officer and founder of St. Christopher Holdings, Ltd, a privately owned holding company with interests in Real Estate and Private Equity across the globe. Roberto has started and owned several highly successful companies including a surfacing company that is renowned world-wide, Cosentino North America. He received national and international recognition for his business accomplishments, including Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2002; Time Magazine's award to Cosentino's product Silestone as one of the Visions of Tomorrow in 2004; and in 2005 Cosentino was recognized by Inc. 500 as one of the 500 fastest growing private companies in the US. Roberto also serves on the boards of the Houston Zoo, Prepared 4-Life's Lemonade Day Houston, The Board of Trustees for the KIPP Academy, Genesys Work Houston and is a member of the Harris County Sheriff's Office Foundation and the Young Presidents Organization.
Rick is a founding partner and board member of Quantor Capital. Currently Rick is CEO of Avangard Innovative, a leader in the recycling and waste management industry. Rick has spent the past 20 years, pioneering the plastics and post consumer plastics industry in the US and Latin America. In 2004, under Rick’s leadership, Innovative Group (IG), became the largest Industrial Recycling Company in Mexico, serving more that 65% of all grocery chains in Mexico. IG has created a successful partnership with the largest waste hauler and landfill operator in Mexico to build and operate material recovery facilities in Mexico. These partnerships improve the recycling efforts in Mexico and greatly benefit the environment.
